"transvestite" is an outdated, now derogatory term. The modern term is "Transgender(ed)." More detailed terms are FTM (female to male), MTF (male to female), female-identifying and male-identifying.

Actually, transgender and transvestite are different things. Queertionary does include transgender, transsex(ual), FTM, MTF, neutrois, MTN, FTN and various gender identities.

A transvestite is someone who is dressing in drag for their own pleasure, and an example of a transvestite is Eddie Izzard. He is not a trans woman, he is a man who is a transvestite.

Transvestite is often USED as a derogatory term for trans women, but that doesn’t overwrite its existance.
