Ace (orientation) shortened version of and slang term for Asexual, and slang term for Aromantic.
Agender (gender) see Genderqueer, a- meaning non; being of no gender, or having no gender identity, and one identifying as such.
Ally a person who is not Queer/LGBTQ but supports and promotes rights and equality for Queer/LGBTQ people.
Androgyne (gender) see Androgynous; andro- meaning Male or Masculine; gyn- meaning Female or Feminine; one who presents as Androgynous, or one who feels that their gender is both/between Man and Woman.
Androgynous (presentation/gender) andro- meaning Male or Masculine; gyn- meaning Female or Feminine; see Androgyne; the presentation of ambiguous gender, one who presents in such a way, or the gender that is both/between Woman and Man.
Androsexual (orientation) andro- meaning Male or Masculine; the attraction to Male people, Men and/or Masculine presentation, and one identifying with this orientation.
Aromantic (orientation) a- meaning non; the lack of romantic attraction, and one identifying with this orientation.
Asexual (orientation) a- meaning non; the absence of sexual attraction, and one identifying with this orientation.
Autosexual (orientation) auto- meaning self, the sexual attraction to oneself, and one identifying with this orientation, or one whose sexual desire is satisfied by masturbation, with no desire for a sexual relationship with another.
Bi (orientation) shortened version of and slang term for Bisexual and/or Biromantic.
Bi Curious (orientation) from the shortened version of Bisexual; the state of either having some level of physical attraction to, or being curious to try physical relations with the same sex/gender, and one identifying with this orientation.
Bigender (gender) see Genderqueer, bi- meaning two; being of two genders, typically Man and Woman, but not necessarily.
Biromantic (orientation) bi- meaning two; the romantic attraction to either two sexes/genders, typically Male/Man and Female/Woman, but not necessarily, or to the same gender/sex and other genders/sexes, and one identifying with this orientation.
Bisexual (orientation) bi- meaning two; the sexual attraction to either two sexes/genders, typically Male/Man and Female/Woman, but not necessarily, or to the same gender/sex and to other genders/sexes, and one identifying with this orientation.
Butch (presentation) one who presents in a very Masculine style, or whose presentation as Masculine is part of their identity, without necessarily identifying as a Man/Male person.
Cis (gender/sex) shortened version of and slang term for Cisgender and/or Cissex/Cissexual; referring to all people who are not Trans*, Intersex or otherwise non-binary.
Cisgender (gender) cis- meaning on the near side, and opposed to trans-; when the sex of the body matches the gender of the mind, and one identifying with this.
Cissex/Cissexual (sex) cis- meaning on the near side, as opposed to trans-; having been born in the correct sex body, and one identifying with this.
Cross Dresser (presentation) see also Drag King and Drag Queen; someone who practises Cross Dressing, for various reasons, but used as an identifier separate to Transvestite.
Cross Dressing (presentation) the practice or act of dressing as the other gender.
Demiboy (gender) one who identifies only partially as a Man (or boy), but does not also identify as any other gender or as Agender / genderless.
Demigirl (gender) one who identifies only partially as a Woman (or girl), but does not also identify as any other gender or as Agender / genderless.
Demisexual (orientation) demi- meaning half; the lack of sexual attraction, until a strong emotional connection has been formed, most often in a romantic relationship.
Drag (presentation) see also Drag King and Drag Queen; the practice or act of dressing as another gender, typically as a performance.
Drag King (presentation) see also Drag and Cross Dresser; a female/woman who dresses as a male/man, typically as a performance.
Drag Queen (presentation) see also Drag and Cross Dresser; a male/man who dresses as a female/woman, typically as a performance.
Dyadic (sex) see Sex Binary; not being Intersex, mostly used by people who are Intersex.
E/Em (pronoun) see Ey/Em; referring to one who is of undisclosed or non-binary gender.
en Femme (presentation) from French for “as a woman”; dressing in a Feminine style, or as a Woman/Female person, typically while not as identifying as a Woman/Female person, but not necessarily.
en Homme (presentation) from French for “as a man”; dressing in a Masculine style, or as a Man/Male person, typically while not as identifying as a Man/Male person, but not necessarily.
Ey/Em (pronoun) see E/Em; referring to one who is of undisclosed or non-binary gender.
Female (sex) being of the female sex.
Feminine (presentation) meaning associated with Female; the state or quality of having or displaying attributes associated with being a Woman or being Female.
Femme (presentation) one who presents in a very Feminine style, or whose presentation as Feminine is part of their identity, without necessarily identifying as a Woman/Female person.
FTM (sex) Female to Male; of Transsex/Transsexual people, the Transition from Female to Male, and one pre, mid or post said Transition identifying with this.
FTN (sex) see Neutrois; Female to Neutrois; of Transsex/Transsexual people, the Transition from Female to Neutrois, and one pre, mid or post said Transition identifying with this.
Gay (orientation) slang term for Homosexual and/or Homoromantic.
Gender Binary (gender) binary meaning of two parts; the concept that gender is a binary, comprised of Man and Woman.
Genderfluid (gender) gender identity which changes over time, and one identifying as such.
Genderfuck (presentation) the act of playing with expected gender presentation, usually mixing the overtly Feminine with the overtly Masculine, and one identifying as such.
Genderqueer (gender) see Agender and Bigender; being of neither, both and/or other gender in regards to the Masculine/Feminine gender binary, and/or a catch-all term for non-binary gender identities.
Gray-A/Grey-A (orientation) Gray is the American English spelling and Grey is the British English spelling; a catch all term for all and any orientation between sexual and asexual.
Gynesexual (orientation) gyn- meaning Female or Feminine; the attraction to Female people, Women and/or Feminine presentation, and one identifying with this orientation.
He/Him (pronoun) referring to one who is a Man, or one who feels that it is an appropriate pronoun for them.
Heteroflexible (orientation) hetero- meaning other; see also Heteroromantic; the state of desiring a romantic relationship with the other sex/gender, but is not averse to physical relations with the same (or non-binary) sex/gender.
Heteroromantic (orientation) hetero- meaning other; a romantic attraction to the other sex/gender, and one identifying with this orientation. Typically one that is Female and/or a Woman being romantically attracted to those of who are Male and/or a Man, and vice versa.
Heterosexual (orientation) hetero- meaning other; a sexual attraction to the other sex/gender, and one identifying with this orientation. Typically one that is Female and/or a Woman being sexually attracted to those of who are Male and/or a Man, and vice versa.
Homoromantic (orientation) homo- meaning same; the romantic attraction to the same sex/gender, and one identifying with this orientation. Those who are Female and/or a Woman being romantically attracted to others who are Female and/or a Woman, and those who are Male and/or a Man being romantically attracted to others who are Male and/or a Man.
Homosexual (orientation) homo- meaning same; the sexual attraction to the same sex/gender, and one identifying with this orientation. Those who are Female and/or a Woman being sexually attracted to others who are Female and/or a Woman, and those who are Male and/or a Man being sexually attracted to others who are Male and/or a Man/
Intergender (gender) inter- meaning between; the state of being between two definable genders, and one who identifies as such.
Intersex (sex) inter- meaning between; being born of an ambiguous or indeterminate sex.
It (pronoun) referring most to inanimate objects and animals, although sometimes referring to Agender people when they feel it is an appropriate pronoun for them.
Kathoey (sex/gender) somewhat derogatory Thai term for various sex/gender identities, including the concept known in Western countries as ‘ladyboy’, which is also a derogatory term.
Lesbian (orientation) slang term for homosexual and/or homoromantic people who are Female and/or a Woman.
LGBT Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans; the original acronym, when it was realised there were other identities than Gay and Lesbian.
LGBTQ Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans/Trans*, Queer; the more inclusive acronym, adding Queer to acknowledge the existence of other identities.
Male (sex) being of the male sex.
Man (gender) one who is of the gender associated with the male sex, or one who identifies as such.
Masculine (presentation) meaning associated with Male; the state or quality of having or displaying attributes associated with being a Man or being Male
Metrosexual (orientation/gender) of Heterosexual people who are Male and/or a Man, displaying behaviour associated with Homosexual people who are Male and/or a Man, such as particular grooming and fashion choices, and one identifying with this.
Monosexual (orientation) mono- meaning one or singular; the sexual attraction to one sex/gender, collectively referring to Homosexuals and Heterosexuals.
MTF (sex) Male to Female; of Transsex/Transsexual people, the Transition from Male to Female, and one pre, mid or post said Transition identifying with this.
MTN (sex) see Neutrois; Male to Neutrois; of Transsex/Transsexual people, the Transition from Male to Neutrois, and one pre, mid or post said Transition identifying with this.
Multisexual (orientation) multi- meaning more than one; the sexual attraction to more than one sex/gender, collectively referring to Bisexual, Polysexual, Pansexual, and any other sexuality that is not Monosexual.
Ne/Nem (pronoun) referring to one who is of undisclosed or non-binary gender, or one who feels that it is an appropriate pronoun for them.
Neutrois (sex) desiring and/or having a sexless/non-sexed body, the feeling that neither a male nor a female body would be the right body, often including a non-binary gender identity, and one identifying with this.
Omniromantic (orientation) omni-meaning all; see Panromantic; the romantic attraction to all sexes/genders, and one identifying with this orientation.
Omnisexual (orientation) omni- meaning all; see Pansexual; the sexual attraction to all sexes/genders, and one identifying with this orientation.
Pan (orientation) shortened version of and slang term for Pansexual and/or Panromantic.
Panromantic (orientation) pan- meaning all; the romantic attraction to all sexes/genders, and one identifying with this orientation.
Pansexual (orientation) pan- meaning all; the sexual attraction to all sexes/genders, and one identifying with this orientation.
Polyamorous (orientation) poly meaning many; the desire or need to have multiple relationships or multiple people in a relationship.
Polyromantic (orientation) poly-meaning many; see also Spectraromantic; the romantic attraction to various sexes/genders, and one identifying with this orientation.
Polysexual (orientation) poly- meaning many; see also Spectrasexual; the sexual attraction to various sexes/genders, and one identifying with this orientation.
Pomosexual (orientation) pomo being the shortening of “postmodern”; the concept that sexual orientation labels are restrictive or inadequate, one who avoids sexual orientation labels.
Queer originally a slur for non-Heterosexual or Cissex/Cissexual people, meaning ‘weird’ or ‘different’, and while mostly reclaimed it can still be offensive to some; a catch-all term for non-cis/heteronormative identities, or non-specific non-cis/heteronormative identity.
Questioning (sex/gender/orientation) being unsure of one’s sex, gender and/or orientation.
Sex Binary (sex) binary meaning of two parts; the concept that sex is a binary, comprised of Male and Female.
Sexual (orientation) as opposed to Asexual; having sexual attraction, one who has sexual attraction.
She/Her (pronoun) referring to one who is a Woman, or one who feels that it is an appropriate pronoun for them.
Skoliosexual (orientation) origin unknown; the attraction to people outside of the Sex Binary, outside of the Gender Binary and/or queer presentation, and one identifying with this orientation.
Spectraromantic (orientation) spectra- from spectrum; see also Polyromantic; the romantic attraction to a spectrum of sexes/genders, and one identifying with this orientation.
Spectrasexual (orientation) spectra- from spectrum; see also Polysexual; the sexual attraction to a spectrum of sexes/genders, and one identifying with this orientation.
SRS (sex) Sex Reassignment Surgery; see Transition; surgery to change the sex of a person.
Straight (orientation) slang term for Heterosexual and/or Heteroromantic.
They/Them (pronoun) referring to one who is of undisclosed gender, or in the generic, or one who feels that it is an appropriate pronoun for them.
Third Gender (gender) expanding to an at least three gender system, a gender separate from, and unrelated to, Man or Woman, and one identifying as such.
Trans (sex/gender) shortened version of and slang term for Transsex/Transsexual, Transgender or Transvestite, and slang term which is sometimes used to mean all or any identities of non-Cis and non-binary sex/gender, except Intersex.
Trans Man (sex/gender) see FTM; one who identifies as a Man, and either also as Trans and/or was not born Male.
Trans Woman (sex/gender) see MTF; one who identifies as a Woman, and either also as Trans and/or was not born Female.
Trans* (sex/gender) see Trans; a purposely inclusive slang term used to mean all or any identities of non-Cis and non-binary sex/gender, except Intersex.
Transgender (gender) trans- meaning cross; when the sex of the body does not match the gender of the mind, and one identifying with this.
Transition (sex) see SRS; the process of changing sex, often including hormones and surgery.
Transsex/Transsexual (sex) trans- meaning cross; having been born in the wrong sex body, often having treatment to change the sex of the body, and one identifying with this.
Transvestite (presentation) trans- meaning cross; see also Cross Dresser; somebody who practises Cross Dressing, although used as a separate identifier due to Transvestites Cross Dressing most commonly for sexual gratification.
Trisexual (orientation) a much misunderstood sexuality; tri- meaning three; either the sexual attraction to those who are Male and/or a Man, Female and/or a Woman and oneself, based on Bisexual and Autosexual, or the sexual attraction to three sexes/genders, based on the concept of three sexes or three genders, and one identifying with either of these orientations.
Two-Spirit (gender) Native American gender identity similar to Androgyne or Bigender, the concept of having both a Man’s spirit and a Woman’s spirit and so being both a Man and a Woman, and one identifying as such.
Woman (gender) one who is of the gender associated with the Female sex, or one who identifies as such.
Ze/Hir (pronoun) referring to one who is of undisclosed or non-binary gender, or one who feels that it is an appropriate pronoun for them.
