Pan Party: Emily’s Unpopular Opinion Time. [TW: anti-pansexual post]

I think pansexuality is a load of fucking bullshit.

Now, unless I have heard wrong pansexuality is about being attracted to a personality, right?

So what, someone walks in the room and you say “Oh my god! they look like they have the best personality ever! I hope we become friends.”

No.

Pansexuality is just a fancy name for bisexuality. So shut the fuck up already.

It’s human nature to be drawn to those we find sexually attractive or appealing to the eye. We also become friends with those that aren’t. (That’s not supposed to sound rude).

So, for once. Stop making up stupid names for things that already exist. You’re bisexual, not pansexual.

Pansexuality is actually the attraction to all sexes or genders. Some people use pansexual to mean “gender-blind” in that they “don’t see gender” and make statements like “I see personality, not gender.”

However, that isn’t the consensus. The consensus is “all genders”. It’s not bisexuality, because bisexuality is the attraction to two sexes or two genders, most commonly the binary ones. As someone who is also genderqueer/non-binary, I have to point out that bisexual wouldn’t cover attraction to me, without erasing my gender.

NO NO NO NO NO. While the first person was rude and inaccurate, so was the responder.

This, I agree with: “Pansexuality is actually the attraction to all sexes or genders. Some people use pansexual to mean “gender-blind” in that they “don’t see gender” and make statements like “I see personality, not gender. However, that isn’t the consensus. The consensus is “all genders”.”

This is TOTALLY INACCURATE, however: “It’s not bisexuality, because bisexuality is the attraction to two sexes or two genders, most commonly the binary ones. As someone who is also genderqueer/non-binary, I have to point out that bisexual wouldn’t cover attraction to me, without erasing my gender.”

Pansexuality= attraction to all sexes and/or genders

Bisexuality= attraction to more than one gender and/or attraction to genders that is similar to oneself and dissimilar from oneself. (which BOTH definitions can include genderqueer people, but the former doesn’t necessarily).

While pansexuality and bisexuality are different, there is some overlap. Don’t define bisexuality incorrectly just to prove that your sexual identity is legitimate. It IS legitimate, but please please don’t prove it by being inaccurate about another sexual identity.

I see that definition from bisexual people more than I see “more than one gender” (which is the definition of polysexual). This ‘more than one’ definition suddenly appeared with the introduction of the word pansexual.

It’s up to an individual to choose the label that fits them best, but I don’t agree that the definition of bisexuality is “attraction to more than one sexes/genders” when MOST people who are bisexual say they are attracted to “men and women”, “boys and girls” or even “BOTH genders” etc.

Or are you saying the bisexual people who define bisexuality as such are the equivalent of “gender blind” pansexual - causing everyone to have the ‘wrong’ definition?

[Aside, the “similar and different” definition, made to fit non-binaries into bisexual attraction” is the one that really annoys me - it’s like saying women see me as a man, and men see me as a woman.]

So, perhaps with this information, you might reconsider your statements?

FACT: Pansexual people have an extra sense that allows them to identify their own. It is described as them having a slight rainbow trail when they move.
